Travel to Dominica just got a little easier…

Dominicans and visitors alike can welcome the new airline Hummingbird Air!

This 15 passenger airplane will fly into Canefield Airport (DCF) which is only a few minutes drive from the capital Roseau. Flights are scheduled every Thursday and Sunday between Dominica and the US Virgin Islands – St Croix (STX) and St Thomas (STT).

• 2751 departs STX at 7:30 am, arrives DCF at 8:50 am
• 2752 departs DCF at 10 am, arrives STT at 11:30 am
• 2753 departs STT at 12:30 pm arrives DCF at 2:10 pm
• 2754 departs DCF at 3 pm, arrives STX at 4:15 pm

With a fleet of three Beech 99 commuter airplanes, Hummingbird Air plans to include new flights and destinations starting in October.

WINAIR and Air Antilles have announced an express service to and from Dominica, this is fantastic news!

(Roseau Dominica – June 7, 2011) On Saturday June 4, 2011, BVI Airways began service to Melville Hall Airport, Dominica (DOM) from Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport, Tortola, BVI (EIS) and Princess Juliana International Airport, St. Maarten (SXM).

The carrier operates two 19-seater British Aerospace Jetstream 32 Jet Prop airliners serving Dominica on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. With this new service, travellers from North America and Europe are now able to make same day connections into Dominica via St. Maarten.

Travellers can take advantage of introductory pricing ranging from as low as US $99 each way for a round trip ticket based on availability plus applicable taxes and fees.

This historic moment was marked by the arrival of LIAT Flight 461 from Antigua, which carried on board the President of Dominica Mr. Nicholas Liverpool,  Government Cabinet Members,  industry officials and stakeholders, and members of the media.

The event was marked by speeches and performances and concluded with a display of fireworks. Tarina Simon’s rendition of the National Anthem was particularly moving.

The advent of night landing at Melvillle Hall Airport is another positive step in Dominica’s development. It will help provide greater flight opportunities for those travelling to and from Dominica.

Winair also landed their inaugural flight on this night, arriving from St. Martin. Other airlines are expected to take advantage of Dominica’s new night landing capabilities in the near future.
