Dominica’s West Coast
Communities of the west coast including Massacre, Mahaut, Jimmit, Warner, Layou, St. Joseph, Mero, Salisbury, Coulibistrie, Colihaut, Plat ma Pierre, Dublanc (Syndicate)
With it’s mixture of coastline and mountains, the West Coast north of Roseau includes many rivers spilling down to the coast, especially the beautiful Layou River Valley, Dominica’s longest river. The Layou River offers great places to river-bathe, birdwatch or just generally enjoy the ambiance.
Syndicate Estate is possibly the best spot to see Dominica’s unique parrot, the Sisserou. Syndicate is also the starting point for the gruelling hike to the top of Morne Diablotin, Dominica’s highest mountain at 4,747 feet. It also has a small, little-known waterfall.
